Book

This book of devotions is comprised of four components. The first is a collection of poems and prayers that are dedicated to Beginnings. Each day, we are born into a new day, a new adventure, a fresh start.

The second part of the book focuses on the end of the day. To close our day with an attitude of hope is just as important as beginning our day in the same fashion. The “As I Come to the End of This Day” prayer poems are committed to that spirit. They offer an opportunity to take inventory of that day and then, regardless of how your day went, find a way to let it all go. By letting go of the events in our day, then we are better equipped to begin again.

The third component of the book, and possibly the most important, is for the
reader to begin their own journey with beginnings and endings, sunrises and sunsets. Each day, the book  provides an opportunity to journal personal thoughts about the day. To set aside time to write their impressions directly in the book..

The fourth component are true stories of persons who applied this attitude of beginnings and endings. They are dramatic examples of recovery, healing, and discovering hope again.

Poetry read out loud can be more effective for touching our soul. Read these poems aloud to yourself or with someone you trust. It may take a few times to discover the inflections in each piece. Nonetheless, I am convinced that silently reading them is less effective. The stories read out loud, to self or to others, are also more effective.
